Totem Natural Gas Storage Project

Colorado Interstate Gas Company (CIG), a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, has converted the first phase of a depleted natural gas production field in eastern Adams County, Colorado, into underground natural gas storage service to provide additional reliable and efficient natural gas storage and delivery to the expanding Denver and Front Range market. The project provides CIG with enhanced flexibility to meet regional seasonal and daily fluctuations in natural gas demands in a cost-effective manner.

The depleted natural gas production field in eastern Adams County, Colorado, is approximately 34 miles northeast of the city of Denver and 11 miles north of Bennett, Colorado. The storage field encompasses approximately 8,040 acres.

Based on design data, the storage field has a total gas inventory of about 10.7 billion cubic feet (Bcf), comprised of 7.0 Bcf of working gas and 3.7 Bcf of base gas.

The Totem Natural Gas Storage Project requires the conversion and/or drilling of 13 injection/withdrawal wells, 11 observation wells, and one salt water disposal well. The injection/withdrawal wells are interconnected with approximately 1.5 miles of smaller diameter pipe. A compressor station with 9,400 horsepower is required to inject and withdraw the natural gas.

El Paso Corporation provides natural gas and related energy products in a safe, efficient, and dependable manner. El Paso Corporation owns North America's largest natural gas pipeline system and is one of North America's largest independent natural gas producers. For more information, visit http://www.elpaso.com.
