Engineering Development Program
Geoscience Development Program
Landman Development Program
Rotation, Development, Exposure, and Interaction (REDI) Program
Making Good Engineers — Great Engineers
We can accelerate your career growth through El Paso’s engineering rotation programs. Whether you choose a career path as a pipeline, geophysicist or petroleum engineer our rotational programs will give you the exposure you need to gain a broad understanding of multiple core functions that are critical to our business. This is a unique benefit that moves you from being a good engineer to being a great engineer.
How the Program Works
You will be assigned a mentor that helps you select a rotation plan and develop your career path. You’ll gain engineering experience via short term assignments within multiple areas of the company. You will work along-side innovative, motivated industry leaders. You’ll play a key role in finding creative solutions and your mentor will be there to help you develop your key strengths.
If you choose Exploration Geo-Science
Advantage - regional rotation
The geoscientist will interact daily with engineering and land counterparts with regional exposure to the Texas Gulf Coast, Gulf of Mexico and potential international opportunities.
Advantage - exposure to multiple disciplines
- Develop project analysis skills and prioritization to generate economic prospects.
- Prospector skills beyond strict geologist/geophysicist.
- Make comparisons from different data-types and interpretation methods
- Understand strict adherence to safety and environmental disciplines
If you choose Production Engineering
Advantage - achieve overall exposure to production, cased hole and drilling operations.
Production – exposure to safety and environmental disciplines, coordination of lease operators and mechanics, assess technicians, equipment function, artificial lift techniques, and well performance.
Cased Hole Operations –understand down hole well completions, re-completions and work-overs.
Drilling Operations - gain functional knowledge of safety and environmental drilling operations, rig types and components, mud systems and properties, casing design, bit selection, plus job planning and design.
Reservoir Engineering –develop skills for log interpretation, well test data to make performance predictions, understanding of SEC reserve booking guidelines and requirements associated with proven reserves.
If you choose Pipeline Engineering
Advantage - rotation through Birmingham, Colorado Springs, or Houston in each 3 – 6 month tours.
Operation Services – develop plant, pipeline, reservoir, or telecomm measurement skills. Short-term projects include:
- Supply Chain Management
- Environmental
- Safety
- DOT Compliance
- Planning
- Gas Control
- Measurement Analysis (Volume Analysis)
- Field Operations
Design and Construction- focus includes budget development for capital maintenance, expansion projects, design standards and codes for measuring and developing plant facility design, equipment performance, cost estimates, and run hydraulic nodal network models.
Corrosion Engineer – access engineering calculations to formulate and develop work project scope, material lists, scheduling project management functions. Achieve functional understanding of Close Interval Survey (CIS) pipe-to-soil cathodic protection data and calculate RM’s. |
