John R. Sult

John R. Sult is senior vice president and chief financial officer of El Paso Corporation. In this capacity, he oversees all financial, treasury, and accounting functions for the corporation. He also serves as chief financial officer for El Paso’s publicly traded master limited partnership, El Paso Pipeline Partners, L. P. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of the general partner of El Paso Pipeline Partners, L. P. Prior to his current role, he served as chief accounting officer and controller for El Paso Corporation and the chief financial officer and controller for El Paso’s Pipeline Group.

Before joining El Paso, Mr. Sult served as vice president and controller of Halliburton Energy Services where he was responsible for all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting for the energy services business unit. Before joining Halliburton, Mr. Sult managed an independent consulting practice that provided a broad range of finance and accounting advisory services and assistance to public companies in the energy industry. Prior to private practice, Mr. Sult was an audit partner with Arthur Andersen LLP where he gained over 20 years experience working with public and private companies in the energy industry.

Mr. Sult graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science with special attainments in commerce. He is a CPA in the State of Texas and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of Financial Executives International (FEI) as well as FEI’s Committee on Corporate Reporting.
