The Southeast's Energy Needs
The planned natural gas storage facility would enable as much as an additional 7.0 billion cubic feet of supply to be readily available to SNG’s customers in the southeastern market, and it will enhance the amount of gas that we can currently provide to our customers via our existing pipeline systems.
With a working inventory of approximately 7.0 billion cubic feet of supply and 700 million cubic feet per day of deliverability, the New Home Natural Gas Storage Project will enhance energy security for Mississippi and the Southeast region by providing an in-the-ground supply of readily available natural gas - i.e., a physical hedge that can mitigate supply and price volatility during times of peak demand.
El Paso and SNG are committed to Mississippi and the Southeast. We continually assess ways to best serve our customers and the marketplace. Natural gas storage is one way to provide readily available energy when needed to meet growing demand. Our commitment includes making significant capital expenditures for natural gas storage, including the current project in Smith County, Mississippi, and determining how this project can best serve Mississippians and the region.
