New Home Natural Gas Storage Project

Southern Natural Gas Company (SNG), a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, proposes to build the New Home Natural Gas Storage Project, a high deliverability, multi-cycle natural gas salt dome storage facility designed to safely enhance energy supply in the Southeast. The facility will be located in Smith County Mississippi, about 55 miles southeast of Jackson.  The New Home Project will provide much needed natural gas storage services to  help manage natural gas load and price volatility and meet the growing need for reliable sources of supply during peak periods for local gas distribution companies, power plants, and other consumers of natural gas across the Southeastern United States.

SNG is a good neighbor in Mississippi, providing natural gas service to communities across the state for more than 70 years. Continuing that tradition, SNG will seek community input throughout the development of the New Home Natural Gas Storage Project.
