Safety

El Paso Corporation, a major operator of natural gas transmission and storage facilities in the United States, seeks to safely and successfully manage its facilities across the U.S. to meet demand in major natural gas markets. CIG, a majority-owned subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, is committed to maintaining its record of safety during construction and operation of CIG’s High Plains Expansion Project. The company maintains its outstanding safety record through rigorous design, construction, operation, and maintenance procedures.

The High Plains Expansion Project meets or exceeds all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory safety and environmental requirements. It includes state-of-the-art safety features, such as remote emergency shutdown capabilities, over-pressure protection systems, and gas-leak detection programs. In addition, the pipeline facilities are included in the company’s ongoing Pipeline Integrity Program, which periodically inspects the internal condition of the pipe to determine if there are any potential integrity problems and addresses them as appropriate. This focus on safety will ensure that the High Plains Expansion Project contributes to CIG’s long-standing history of safe natural gas transmission operations.
