Project Facilities

The High Plains Expansion Project was constructed in Adams, Morgan, and Weld counties, Colorado. The project included both pipeline and measurement facilities.

The pipeline facilities were constructed in four segments as follows :

  • Line No. 250A consists of approximately 84.7 miles of 24-inch and 30-inch outside diameter pipeline commencing at CIG’s Cheyenne Compressor Station in Weld County, Colorado and traversing in a southerly and southeasterly direction. Approximately 72.2 miles are located in Weld County and approximately 12.5 miles in Adams County, Colorado.
  • Line No. 251A consists of approximately 58 miles of 24-inch outside diameter pipeline commencing at CIG’s Watkins Compressor Station in Adams County, Colorado and traversing in a northeasterly direction to CIG’s Fort Morgan Compressor Station in Morgan County, Colorado. Approximately 37.2 miles are located in Adams County and approximately 20.8 miles in Morgan County, Colorado.
  • Line No. 252A consists of approximately 14.9 miles of 30-inch outside diameter pipeline interconnecting with Line No. 250A in Weld County, Colorado and traversing in a westerly direction to a new interconnect with Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo). All of this segment of the project will be located in Weld County, Colorado.
  • Line No. 253A consists of approximately 6.1 miles of 24-inch outside diameter pipeline commencing at CIG’s Watkins Compressor Station in Adams County, Colorado and traversing in a westerly direction to CIG’s existing East Denver measurement adjacent to Smith Road. All of this segment of the project is located in Adams County, Colorado.

The project’s measurement facilities consists of 10 meter stations. Six are located at the interconnections with Wyoming Interstate Company, Ltd. and Rockies Express Pipeline LLC in Weld County, Colorado; Young Gas Storage Company, Ltd. in Morgan County, Colorado; CIG’s proposed Totem Natural Gas Storage Project in Adams County, Colorado; CIG’s Watkins Compressor Station in Adams County, Colorado; and CIG’s existing Spruce Meter Station in Adams County, Colorado. Four other meter stations were constructed at interconnections with PSCo in Adams, Morgan, and Weld Counties, Colorado.

Finally, CIG constructed all other necessary piping, communication, and associated facilities at the above-listed locations. These are used to operate and monitor the project.
