Cypress Pipeline Facilities
Southern Natural Gas Company's Cypress Pipeline Project will provide
new natural gas pipeline infrastructure providing access to natural
gas imported at Southern's liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal
near Savannah, Georgia, and transportation to markets in Georgia
and Florida. The project will be constructed in three phases. Construction
of Phase 1 began in the fall of 2006 and was completed on May 1, 2007. Phase
2 went into service May 1, 2008. Phase 3 is expected to go into service in 2010. The specific facilities to be constructed as part of
the Cypress Pipeline Project are:
- Approximately 165 miles of 24-inch-diameter natural gas pipeline
in Chatham, Effingham, Bryan, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Glynn,
Camden, and Charlton Counties, Georgia, and Nassau, Duval, and
Clay Counties, Florida; Phase 1 - in service May 2007
- Approximately 10 miles of 30-inch-diameter pipeline loop in
Chatham and Effingham Counties, Georgia; Phase 3 - expected in
service May 2010
- 10,350 hp of compression at the new Compressor Station #1 in
Liberty County, Georgia; Phase 3 - expected in service May 2010
- 10,350 hp of compression at the new Compressor Station #2 in
Glynn County, Georgia; Phase 2 - in service May 2008
- 10,350 hp of compression at the new Compressor Station #3 in
Nassau County, Florida; Phase 3 - expected in service May 2010
- Four new meter stations including (all Phase 1 - in
service May 2007):
- Atlanta Gas Light Meter Station in Glynn County, Georgia
- Southern Georgia Natural Gas Meter Station in Nassau County,
Florida
- Brandy Branch Power Plant Meter Station in Duval County, Florida
- Florida Gas Transmission Meter Station in Clay County, Florida;
- A pig launcher/receiver at the beginning of the 24" line
near Rincon in Effingham County, Georgia; Phase 1 -
in service May 2007
- Two pig launcher/receivers at the Compressor Station #2 site
in Glynn County, Georgia; Phase 1 - in service May 2007
- A pig launcher/receiver at the end of the 24" line at
the Florida Gas Transmission Meter Site in Clay County, Florida;
Phase 1 - in service May 2007
- A pig launcher/receiver at the beginning of the 30" line
at Port Wentworth; Phase 3 - expected in service May 2010
- A regulator setting and a pig launcher/receiver at the end
of the 30" line near Rincon in Effingham County, Georgia;
Phase 3 - expected in service May 2010.
- 14 mainline valves in various locations; Phase 1 -
in service May 2007
