Our far-reaching Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) program is fundamental to our operations and a cornerstone of how we do business. EH&S staff within the business units provide the leadership and direction for integrating best practices to protect employee health and ensure environmental safety.
At El Paso, EH&S has a reporting structure that is unique in the oil and gas industry. In the Pipeline group, they report to the business unit head and in the E&P company they report to the company president. While these employees work side-by-side with operational staff, our reporting structure ensures that their primary focus is on implementing EH&S policies and procedures.
To stress the importance of environmental awareness and safety on the job, in our pay-for-performance culture, annual bonuses are also tied to our safety targets.
